#17 - High Fashion on the
Streets of Shillong

The young locals of Shillong
know how to dress well and you
can certainly expect them to teach
you a thing or two about style. One
of the best ways to pass the time
in the city is to find a quiet spot
at Police Bazaar, and observe the
young boys and girls running their
regular errands. You will spot all
sorts of styles from preppy attires
to goth get-ups. Police Bazaar is
also one of the best places to buy
chic, smart clothes but you have to
know how to haggle.

#18 - The Local Flavour

The best way to enjoy the local
food is to be invited for a home-

cooked meal, but if that is not on
the cards for you, you can try out
the many restaurants across the
State. Unlike what you may think,
it is the small roadside stalls that
make the most authentic local food.
If you want a bit of everything then
we suggest the lunch buffet at Sao
Aiom in Ri Kynjai-Serenity By The
Lake. It is a little expensive, but the
food and the incredible view of
Barapani more than make up for it.

#19 - Go Caving

One of the best things about
travelling in the Northeast is that
you get to have unique experiences.
If you are going to visit Meghalaya
then you cannot leave without

exploring a cave. There are many
different ones located across the
State, and the best way to explore
them would be to hire a guide or
opt for a package.

#20 - Take a Selfie with a
Waterfall

The State is home to many
beautiful waterfalls and you are
bound to spot some during your
trip. Most of the bigger ones have
viewing areas where you can take
pictures. The best thing about
Meghalaya is that many amazing
waterfalls are located right next to
the highway, so you don’t have to
stray too far from your route.
