#41 - Trek the Blue Mountain

If you want some time to
yourself during your trip then
Phawngpui, Mizoram’s highest
peak, is the place. Known as the
‘Blue Mountain’, it is a popular
site for trekkers and nature
enthusiasts. Take your time getting
to the peak and keep an eye out for
rare orchids and rhododendrons.

#42 - Explore the Mizo Village

You should make your way
to Reiek, where you can visit
the model Mizo Village with its
distinctive traditional huts of
different Mizo sub-tribes. The
fee is very nominal and you can
ask for a guide who can help you
understand the exhibits. It can be
accessed easily from Aizawl.

#43 - Spend the Day at Tam Dil

If you want to lose yourself
in the wilderness then the best
place to do that would be in Tam
Dil, located about 6 km away
from Saitual. The lake and the
surrounding hills are the perfect
setting for a picnic. There is a
tourist resort run by the Mizoram
Tourism department that offers
lake-view cottages for those who
want to spend the night.

#44 - Get Your Own Mizo
Puan

If you are looking to add
striking new items to your
wardrobe then you need to check
out Mizo Puan, the traditional
weave. The colours are striking
and the designs are very unique.
The wraparound skirts, that they
sell in almost all markets, can be
paired perfectly with western tops.

#45 - Check out a Shop
Without a Seller

Whenever you are travelling
across Mizoram, you are bound
to come across roadside stalls
that have local produce on offer.
But unlike other shops around
the world, many of these stalls
are unmanned. Pick up what you
need, check the price on the board
and leave the money in one of the
containers available.

Many talented Mizo designers, like
Hannah Khiangte are promoting
traditional weaves in their
collections
