“We’ll have seven cameras filming this
afternoon’s session,” he explains, “and
we try to do the editing during sessions.
For instance, during a five-minute
conditioning block one of the guys
will edit the video of a skills block.
“We implement it (analysis) for
improvement, not to call people out.
Occasionally we use it to highlight
deficiencies with a way to fixing them,
but it’s not finger-pointing, it’s, ‘Here’s
where you can get better’. Ultimately
we all want to give these guys the best
opportunity to showcase their talents.”
The cameras are in evidence when
afternoon training kicks off outdoors.
Players have been told how the session
will play out – a mix of conditioning and
skills – during a post-lunch meeting in
which Shaun Edwards also gave a
two-clip presentation emphasising the
need to lower tackle heights, Mathema
explained the World Cup medical
requirements and Gatland said players
