edition of Total MX-5, the
turnout at the Club’s Spring
Rally and Guinness World
Record was huge! But if you
thought that was big... This
year’s MX-5 Anniversary Rally in
September is going to be
massive and spectacular.
To help continue the
celebrations for the 30th
Anniversary of the MX-5, this
year’s National Rally is going to
feature a massive programme of
entertainment and is far bigger
than anything we’ve ever staged,
which is saying something.
From stunt shows to Show
and Shine, club area stands,
circuit driving challenges, live
music to a limbo competition,
this is the MX-5 event of 2019
and will certainly be the biggest
Anniversary anywhere in the
world for Mazda’s greatest hit!
Mazda UK will have some
special experiences for visitors
to the rally and you will also be
able to visit the British Motor
Museum. Throughout the day
there will be a series of
technical workshops featuring
regular and specialist jobs for
your MX-5, and outside the
paddock will be assembled the
UK’s leading MX-5 specialists
and traders, along with our
special and popular lifestyle
village. Additionally there will
be displays in the Club Area,
international clubs will join us,
there’ll be car colour-coded
colour display parking and a raft
of early MX-5s forming our
Team 89 display.
Special VIP guests will be in
attendance, including motoring
presenter Vicki Butler-
Henderson, while Channel 5’sJon Bentley will be on hand
throughout the day to assist in
competition judging, technical
demonstrations and maybe a
bit of driving.
It is also a huge honour for
the Club to welcome the
designer of the MX-5, Tom
Matano, to the event. Members
will be able to meet Tom
throughout the day and hear
him talk in a special plenary
session in the main auditorium.
A few lucky owners will have
their cars autographed by Tom,
too, while he is out strolling
around the paddock.
The rally extends into
Saturday this year, with an
afternoon of driving challenges
at the museum (available to be
pre-booked) followed by a very
special drive-in movie. We are
delighted to celebrate another
anniversary by screening The
Italian Job, a classic hit that was
first shown 50 years ago.The event is open to all MX-
fans: tickets are available in
advance, priced at the
museum’s regular entrance fee
of £17 per person – they’re also
available on the day. However,
MX-5 Owners Club members
get FREE entry to the event
with a guest, event parking, and
access to the museum. Which
makes Club membership (£39.
including an admin fee when
you first sign up, £35 per annum
thereafter) seem like even
better value! You also get to
benefit from insurance deals,
parts and servicing discounts,
six Club magazines a year, Club
Calendar and discounts to many
other shows and events.
