Jack up the rear end, then remove the upper anti-roll bar mounts to
allow the bar some movement – it’s not essential to do so, but it will
give greater range of movement for the wishbones later on.
4
Using your long-handled 17mm ring spanner, loosen off the lower
wishbone mounts to make final suspension alignment easier. WD40
may be your friend here, together with strength and patience.
7
You want to keep the top mounts to transfer to your new coilovers,
but be wary – the one on the left has had its central hole enlarged
and lost its vital flat edge: to the right is what it should look like.
8
Before installing your lovely new coilover, set its adjustment to a
midway point. Alter it after a couple of hundred ‘bedding in’ miles if
the setting isn’t to your taste.
5
Remove wheel if you haven’t already done so. With a 17mm socket
undo and remove the single nut and bolt for the lower shock absorber
mount.
6
Prise down the wishbone with some large levers until the
spring/damper unit emerges from its housing in the strut tower and
you can lift it clear of the car.
