No longer than a credit card and no thicker than a matchbox,
Samsung’s Portable SSD T3 is an incredibly compact and
lightweight portable solid-state drive compatible with both Windows
and Mac. Unlike portable hard disk drives (HDDs), which are
cheaper and made up of moving parts that can be prone to damage
or failure, SSDs do not contain any moving parts and are renowned
for their excellent reliability. Its slim profi le lets you slip it anywhere
in your bag; it weighs next to nothing and doesn’t disappoint in
terms of its performance either. Users get hardware encryption to
keep fi les secure too. If your budget can stretch to an SSD ahead of
a hard disk drive equivalent, it’s defi nitely worth
spending the extra. Samsung’s SSD T3 has
since been superseded by the Samsung
Portable SSD T5, which costs £95 for a
500GB version or £165 for a 1TB version.

the production of handmade
soft shutter releases. The job
of a soft shutter release is
to improve the feel of your
camera’s shutter button. The
company produces ones that
feature a tapered thread
to fi t cameras that have a
screw-in type of shutter
button such as those found
on many Fujifi lm X-series cameras as well as sticky-backed ones
that can be used with any camera. Although $40 (excluding
international shipping to the UK) might seem a little steep for what
is the smallest accessory you’re ever likely to buy for your camera,
these beautiful soft shutter releases provide
a unique and rustic feel to your camera
while improving the handling and shooting
experience at the same time. They are a
great way to personalise your camera.
