ScoopNearly two years after Sarah Hyland and
Wells Adams first exchanged flirty
messages over Twitter, the Modern Family
star, 28, and the Bachelor in Paradise
bartender and radio deejay, 35, are ready
to tie the knot. “They are so excited to
plan their wedding,” a source says of the
couple, who got engaged over the July 4
weekend during a romantic getaway in
Fiji, where Adams surprised Hyland by
popping the question.
The pair have yet to set a date, but for
Hyland—who has dealt with painful public
breakups as well as health crises, including
her kidney dysplasia, that have landed her
in the hospital in recent years—finding
Adams has been a long time coming.
They met online in 2017 after Hyland, a
Bachelor fan, tweeted at Adams. He direct-
messaged her, and the chemistry was
instant. “Wells is like a breath of fresh air,”says the source. “He’s a good
person from a good family. He’s
exactly what Sarah needed. And
he’s been an endless support
through all of her health battles.”
In fact, the couple had their
first date (at a 2017 Emmys
party) just three days before her
second kidney transplant. From
the beginning Adams has been by
her side during her health
journey, most recently
leaving the set of BiP in
June to join Hyland
when she was briefly
hospitalized for a
mystery illness.
“He’s seen me at
my worst,” Hyland
told Self last year. “I
think that’s why Ifeel the most beautiful
in his eyes, because he still
finds me beautiful after seeing
all that.”
While they dated long-
distance at first (he was in
Nashville, she in Los Angeles),
Wells and Hyland moved in
together last summer as their
romance grew more serious.
“They balance each other
out,” says the source. “And
she finds it refreshing that
he’s not an actor. They are
just really happy
together.” Now, adds the
source, they’re ready for
what comes next: “They
can’t wait to start a
future together.”
