The Facebook COO, 49, helps students
in need pay for college through a program
in memory of her late husband
When my husband, [former SurveyMonkey CEO] Dave
Goldberg, died four years ago, I wanted to honor his legacy. Dave
really cared about everyone getting an equal chance. He got a great
education, but we all know not everyone has the same experience. The Dave Goldberg
Scholarship Program makes sure people who came from more disadvantaged back-
grounds have every opportunity—we’re using the power of Dave’s community
to lift up other people in his honor. We partner with KIPP Charter Schools to give
15 students a year stipends for critical expenses outside of tuition, as well as a profes-
sional mentor, networking opportunities and a trip to a lead-
ership weekend. I mentor one of the scholars, and I think we
learn more from them than they learn from us. We gain as a
community from what we
teach. —REPORTED BY
