underserved areas around the world. The
company hopes to recycle 2 million bars by
Global Handwashing Day on Oct. 15, an interna-
tional effort to raise hygiene awareness. Not
only has Hilton’s recycling push reduced waste,
says Daniella Foster, senior director of corpo-
rate responsibility, but “we’ve contributed to a
6o percent reduction in the death rate of chil-
dren under 5 from hygiene-related illnesses.”
