CONVOY IN THE PARK

onvoy has a series of drift demonstrations at
the live action arena, and joining the Daf CF
(below left) is the star of the show, the
Kelsa-Truck Sport UK Scania 144 530 T-cab
(above). If you’ve ever planted the throttle on an
older pre-traction-control solo tractor unit on a wet
roundabout (or you switched your traction off, you
naughty person), you’ll know that sending a couple of
thousand Nm of torque to the rear end will send a truck
surprisingly, spectacularly sideways. That in itself isn’t
enough to sustain a proper drift session though, and the
Scania features some in-cab trickery to provoke it into
breaking traction, as you can see from the photograph
below. Truck Sport UK has fitted a pair of air valves
operated by levers, which can apply the brake on each
front wheel individually as required, pushing the truck
sideways and leaving the drive-axle to spin freely.Meet the
