This issue is, quite simply, packed
full of trucks. All seven of the main
manufacturers are featured, with a
touch of British thrown in for good
measure and an extra 16-page
supplement on our Convoy in the
Park event. Time really does fly past
at this time of year when so many weekends are taken up
with shows – I realised today that this is my editorship’s
10th full issue of T&D. Where has the time gone?
As I write this at the end of June, Europe is in the grip
of a record-breaking heatwave. In the UK, the North
especially, it’s been dull, wet and not particularly warm.
Which doesn’t seem particularly fair to me!
I am very grateful that both Full of the Pipe and Kelsall
Steam Rally stayed dry. I was able to attend both and
had a great time doing so. Now the show season is in
full swing there are often multiple events on during the
same weekend. I’d also have liked to attend Thirsk Truck
Gathering but it clashed with Kelsall. It’s been a real
highlight to be able to speak to so many enthusiasts and
readers about the ‘new’ T&D and line up lots of exciting
feature material for the second half of 2019. There’s somuch happening show-wise during the summer that it’s
impossible to cover all of it in print, so we’re devoting
lots of space on our new website at truckanddriver.
co.uk to posting huge galleries of images from shows,
with additional written content, so please check in there
regularly as you’ll find so many additional photos that
would previously never have seen the light of day.
We’re now full steam ahead with Convoy in the Park
too, with a load of exciting new features and changes just
announced to make this the best one yet. Check out the
pull-out guide in the centre of this issue to find out more
about what T&D, Trucksport and the MV Commercial
British Truck Racing Association Championship will be
doing at Donington on the weekend of 10/11 August.
Aside from the many brilliant shows taking place this
summer, there are also new trucks hitting the road. The
biggest launch of the year is Iveco’s replacement for the
long-serving Stralis. The stakes are high for the Italian
manufacturer. We’ve included some
details on it in this issue, but we hope
you’ll already have seen our extensive
coverage of the truck online by the time
this issue hits the shelves.Welcome
