Create serene watercolour cards this
spring with AquaTint inks and stamps
from Claritystamp. By Clare Buswell
A palette
of pastels
E
nchant your loved ones with
soothing watercolour makes
by creating unique inked
backgrounds using AquaTint
markers from Crafter’s Companion.
Clare used the Cherry’s Wildlife
Collection of stamps from
Claritystamp for these cards, which
she stamped and heat embossed to
display the intricate details of the
designs. She then paired the
stamped images with watercolour
backgrounds for a calming scheme.
Clare has inked her own unique
panels for some of the backgrounds
on the cards, but if you’re not the
most confident with inking, choose
watercolour-patterned paper to
achieve the look. Here, Clare has
used Hobbycraft’s Watercolour
Dreams pad to layer the stamped
panels, which complements the
pastel and bleached shades Clare has
created with the AquaTint inks.
When heat embossing on inked
papers, be sure to leave plenty of
time for the ink to dry. Otherwise,
the embossing powder may stick to
any damp areas, which will ruin the
delicate edges of the stamps.
We think the soft purples, blues
and teals that Clare has used for
these cards make them perfect for
spring birthdays, hello cards and
more. You could even stamp extra
butterflies, seahorses or dragonflies
to create coordinating gift tags and
toppers to add to your recipient’s gift.
