Caring crafts

Thank you for the lovely gifts you give with
the magazine each month, I have great fun
crafting with them. Here are two of the
boxes I made using part of issue 205’s Alice
in Wonderland kit. I lost one of my dear
friends recently and it has been
heartbreaking. My life is very demanding
and I sit making things in the early hours so
that I can recharge my batteries in order to
help everyone. I wanted to share these gift
boxes I made to show you what brilliant
therapy your gift has been for me.
Your magazine is far more than just a
magazine for so many people, and I happily
‘spread the love’. I particularly like the cover
gifts, they are spot on and easily workable for
people of all skill levels.
I work with street and railway
children in Mumbai and, since
the Mumbai Massacre in 2008,
I have held craft workshops
after each clinic session – they
are so joyful and truly

therapeutic. This is now my 22nd year of
doing this. Thank you for giving me some
lovely ideas and templates for the children,
they learn such a lot and love the fabulous
world of crafting. Having seen first hand the
impact that crafting has had on hundreds of
my Mumbai children and my patients and
clients in the UK, I am truly grateful. Thanks
to everyone involved in the production of a
brilliant magazine.

Hayley says: Thank you for
sharing your incredible story,
Valerie, it’s wonderful to hear
that crafting brings joy to the
children of Mumbai.
