One of our favorite roads in B.C. is the Sea to
Sky Highway. It follows a stunning route along
the west coast of the mainland from sea level up
through the mountains between Squamish and
Whistler. The views of Howe Sound are breathtak-
ing and, with a little time planned, you can stop
and enjoy the Sea to Sky Gondola, hike up to
Stawamus Chief or spend some time checking out
Whistler Village. We traversed undulating curves
and stunning vistas as we rode past Lillooet, on the
way to Kamloops and then on to Tête Jaune Cache.
We took a detour up to Wells Gray Provincial Park
where we took a small hike to Helmcken Falls whose
water cascades 141m (463 ft.) to the canyon below.
It is the fourth largest waterfall in Canada and easily
accessible from the road, boasting a walkway that
allows a 180-degree view.
