In the world of extreme
rally racing and global adventure riding, Lyndon
Poskitt is a larger-than-life character. This cordial 40-year-old Brit and
aerospace engineer finished 46th, 39th, and 32nd overall in the Dakar Rally
in, respectively, 2013, 2017 and 2018, and 2nd in the Malle Moto class of the
latter two editions. This was an astonishing achievement given the Malle
Moto class is considered the Triple Ironman category of the Dakar.
I first became aware of Lyndon when he raced the 2007 Baja 1000.
A few years later he showed up again in the Salt and Gold 2010 Sahara
expedition with Austin Vince of Mondo Enduro and Terra Circa fame. Then,
Jeremy Bullard (author of Life on the Line based on his RTW trip) sold him
an ex-Dakar race bike which spawned plans of riding it around the world.
I’d also been a fan of Races to Places (R2P) on Youtube—a truly unique epic
adventure which began with a punishing ride across Siberia and is now in
its final stage (Lyndon is currently riding across Africa, the last continent
