The race has the privilege of being the Nottinghamshire County Championship
half marathon this year. In addition Newark Half sees the DB Wood Challenge
which offers big incentives to the elite runners at the head of the field.
The challenge offers the first male runner to finish in under 70 minutes and the
first female to finish in under 80 minutes £500 each, donated by DB Wood.
The organisers feel strongly that prizes for the half marathon should be
awarded fairly with respect to gender and age category. This recognises age
category ability and not simply the fastest. Age category prizes total over £1,700.
