Other highlights


A TOP quality long jump saw a win for world
champion Luvo Manyonga – the South African
jumping 8.37m to defeat Jamaican Tajay Gayle, who
set a PB 8.32m. In the triple jump, meanwhile, Pedro
Pablo Pichardo – now representing Portugal – won
with 17.53m from Christian Taylor’s 17.19m.
The 400m saw Akeem Bloomfield of Jamaica
go No.5 on the world rankings with 44.40 as he beat
Jonathan Jones from Barbados (44.63).
High jumper Mutaz Essa Barshim made his first
Diamond League appearance for more than a year
but the world champion from Qatar was beaten by
Majededdin Ghazal as the Syrian leapt 2.30m to
beat Barshim’s 2.27m.
In the Club Connect relays, Croydon Harriers
set an under-20 men’s club record of 40.63. The
team of Derek Kinlock, Samir Williams, Dylan Da
Costa and Micah Francis-Dwyer are all coached
by Paul Weston.
