evo India – July 2019

HE MUCH-AWAITED XPULSE HAS
finally been launched and I’ve
already booked one for myself.
Although the delivery is still pending, I have
already made a lot of plans for the little
Hero, including shopping for Enduro gear and
exploring uncharted territories. I can almost
hear the Interceptor heaving a sigh of relief as
it won’t be subjected to off-roading anymore.
Of course, being a heavy motorcycle with
road-biased tyres makes it a lot more
difficult but that brilliant engine really eggs
you to push the envelope. Which means, the
RE will now be mainly used for touring and
weekend joy rides to Lavasa. It’s already a
lovely package for roads but I’m already onto
sourcing some performance parts for her,
including an aftermarket exhaust and free-
flow air filter.
Anyway, a lot of time last month was spent
off roading on several bikes including the
likes of the all-new R 1250 GS forcing me to
leave the RE unattended for long. However,
living with superbikes really spoils you and
makes you feel grounded especially when
you’re brought back to living the real life after

that sinful dream. Thankfully, the RE has my
back, allowing me to cure my withdrawal
symptoms. A couple of issues have surfaced
though. The pass switch for example. It has a
mind of its own and refuses to work at times.
The mirrors too have started rattling. I was
hoping that these issues wouldn’t crop up
but they have. Well, life can never be perfect
now, can it? L

ESPITE SPENDING MORE
than a year with evo India, the
fun aspect of the Ntorq is still
intact, something that I believe is missing
in the current twist-and-go brigade. So
much so that someone at the office is
always ‘borrowing’ it. But this month,
with most of the others either riding their
own bikes (finally!) or out of town on
various assignments, I have finally had a
chance to spend some quality time with
the Ntorq.
Meanwhile, the scattered showers
have led to some rudimentary potholes
and ruts forming, but it’s nothing the
Ntorq’s suspension cannot handle, while
keeping my jeans spot free (courtesy the
front apron and mudguard).
And all the travelling hardly puts a
dent on the pocket, the Ntorq’s 125cc
mill consistently giving good efficiency.
However, the Ntorq’s fuel gauge has been
playing a devious tactic, never showing
the fuel level below two bars. This game
of ‘petrol roulette’ has me constantly
on edge. Is the tank a quarter full? Am I
running on fumes? There’s no real way
to know!
Hence, I have a simple way to solve this
issue: Keep calm and tank up whenever
the dreaded two bars show up! L
