KIA SELTOS

WORDS by A FZ A L R AW U T HER

NEVER BEFORE HAS

A CAR IN ITS PRICE
RANGE BEEN OFFERED

WITH SUCH A VARIETY
OF ENGINES AND

TRANSMISSIONS

The rear continues in the same vein and the LED
taillamps and the cuts and creases along the
body make it look quite sporty.
The Seltos isn’t far off the recent ‘connected-
cars’ when it comes to connectivity features
and comes equipped with ‘UVO Connect’ which,
similar to Hyundai’s Blue Link, gets 37 features
under five primary categories – navigation,
safety and security, vehicle management,
remote control and convenience. The service
will be free for its users for the first three years
and works via an e-SIM. The UVO connect also
enables drivers to use voice commands and
remotely start and stop the engine, operate the
air purifier and air quality monitoring system,
receive safety alerts and even immobilise the
vehicle if stolen.
The stylish Kia SUV doesn’t skimp on safety

features either and gets six airbags, ABS with
EBD, ESC, HAC (Hill-start Assist Control), and
VSM (Vehicle Stability Management) and front
and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera
with blind spot view and rear view monitor.  All
these features work in conjunction with the UVO
connect. There’s no all-wheel drive. It also gets
a Bose sound system with mood lighting that
alters according to the beats.
At launch, Kia will have 265 touch points in
160 cities that will go up to 300 touch points
in 2020 and 350 in 2021, making it the largest
network for any new brand breaking into India.
The Seltos will go up against the sister-brand,
Hyundai’s Creta, and with the range of features
and stunning design, it wouldn’t at all be a
surprise if the Seltos goes on to do exceedingly
well in India!
