Remove the arm that joins the wheel to the
rack, which connects to the wheel boxes.
I used a flat-bladed screwdriver to remove the 130-degree wheel.
Turn the motor over and prize off the retaining circlip (sitting
above a flat washer) which is shown here partly removed.
Ensuring that the car’s ignition is off, the
motor can be carefully unplugged from
the wiring loom, from the connector
mounted in the back of the unit.

Mini Spares supplied this 110-degree kit, which includes
replacement circlips and spring washers, along with a
replacement arm.
With the strap completely removed the
motor can now easily be taken from
the engine bay to your workbench and
cleaned if necessary. You can clearly see
the 130-degree stamp on the wheel.
Before removing the wheel we checked the alignment of the
130-degree wheel, so that the replacement went back as closely as
possible to the same position, so that the windscreen wipers
will park correctly when it's all reassembled.

It was then necessary to drift out the shaft for the old wheel, using
a drift tool and hammer.
