Mopar Muscle – October 2019

(Barré) #1

During the first dyno pulls, the A/F ratio

was way too lean (13.7:1 on E10

87-octane pump gas). We stepped up

the primary jets from 66s to 74s, and

the secondaries were increased from

70s to 78s, which provided a 12.4:1 A/F

ratio at WOT. If you have ever changed

jets in a Holley carburetor, the Brawl-

er’s jets are swapped the same way.

The primary power valve is a 6.5, and

there isn’t a power valve in the second-

ary metering block.

After the jet changes, we readjusted

the float height for each bowl. The

float-height adjustment is the same as

every Holley carburetor. The oversized,

built-in float bowl sight glasses make

the fuel-level adjustment an easy task

to complete.

We installed a Hooker clamp-on O 2

sensor bung (PN 71014302-RHKR) to

our exhaust. In the future, we may weld

in a permanent bung, but the Hooker

clamp-on setup was easy to install

and provided leak-free operation. The

Pennsylvania College of Technology’s

Mustang chassis dyno had an O 2

sensor that we connected to the new

bung to monitor the A/F ratio.
