I had to go looking for this

app recently, writes Dougie,

as I was experiencing

problems downloading large

numbers of photos and

videos from my phone to my

laptop. Having accumulated

lots of material I needed to

use for the magazine and

website, I found that my

Android phone and both

laptops were playing up. The

computer would continually

tell me the device had

malfunctioned.

So, I wondered, are there

any apps I could use to

upload the media to, directly

from my phone? After trying

a couple, I reckon this was

by far the best. Send

Anywhere lets you quickly

pick the images you want to

send and provides you with a

link, which can be emailed. It

worked a treat and I had more

than 1 gigabyte of pictures and

videos off my phone and onto

my laptop in no time. Very

useful if you’re using your

phone extensively at an event.

If you heeded my

recommendation (July T&D) of

Crisis, Frank Gardner’s first

novel, you’ll no doubt be ready

for another fast-paced spy thriller

from the BBC’s security

correspondent – and it comes in

the form of Ultimatum.

MI6 agent Luke Carlton is

again the lead character, this

time having to head off a

catastrophic confrontation in the

Unlike many espionage novels,

Gardner’s are unnervingly

authentic; the only weak point is

that it’s hard to get a handle on

the characters as they’re a little

GOOD-VALUE TRAMPING KIT

These products are included this month as a result of a

conversation we had at a show with a new driver, who said his

truck wasn’t kitted out as well as many. Specifically, it didn’t have

a microwave, plus his company did not allow the use of gas

stoves. Microwaves can be expensive to buy and install, as can

an inverter if you’d simply like to use a 240V microwave. They’re

also not ideal if you’re in different trucks on a regular basis.

You can, though, also buy a portable 24V oven. I had one of

these (still do) and it’s brilliant. You can heat lots of food items in

it, and it will also do toast. Unlike a microwave, you can’t nuke

stuff but it will make food crisp in a way a microwave cannot. Not

perfect for everything but very affordable, and it opens up a huge

variety of hot food you either weren’t getting before or paying a

fortune for in services outlets.

Speaking of which, if you’re buying coffee or tea from shops on

a regular basis you’re wasting a fortune.
