(^42) Summer 2019 Truck & Driver
CONVOY IN THE PARK PREVIEW
MUSIC
Two of the greatest tribute acts in the
business are headlining the evening
entertainment on Saturday:
Freddie and the
Mercurys
One of Europe’s premier Freddie Mercury
tribute acts, Gary Goodmaze and the
Mercurys bring anthems such as Bohemian
Rhapsody and We Will Rock You back to life
with a voice and performance that is
unmatched! Gary has developed his act to
incorporate stage work, dancing, costumes
and mannerisms to create an uncanny tribute
to the late front man of Queen.
U2 2
The world’s longest-running tribute to
legendary Irish band U2! These lookalike
soundalikes have been touring for 27 years,
performing over 2000 concerts, spanning
three continents. Voted number one
soundalikes, the band have performed
alongside U2, been praised by Bono and
are often mistaken for the real U2!
Friday night movie!
There’s a choice of three films for your Friday
night entertainment, broadcast on the big
screen. The traditional choices are Convoy or
Smokey and the Bandit. Or how about the
superb World In Action documentary
Destination Doha, which follows a team
of drivers from the UK to the Middle
East in the 1970s? There will be a poll
on our Facebook page to choose
which film, so keep an eye out for it.
We’re voting for Destination Doha!
Eating competitions
Get up on stage and get more than
your fill of chillies, crackers and chubby
bunnies to see who will be crowned the
champion of consumption.
Comedy night
Adults only! Following last year’s success,
there’s extended Saturday night
entertainment in the Big Top circus tent, with
four comedians taking to the stage. Produced
in conjunction with the Stand Up for
Humanity charity.
Entertainment for kids
There are free Saturday and Sunday morning
family movies on the big screen. There is also
a plethora of pay-per-use attractions,
including a funfair, inflatables, climbing wall,
assault course and an artic simulator.
ENTERTAINMENT
FOR YOU
Mini Monster Truck Mania
Both kids and adults will get the chance to
drive scale replicas of famous monster trucks
around a course.
Free Scalextric racing!
Be sure to check out the purpose-built
Scalextric track with four-lane raceway. The
aim of the challenge is simple – to be the
fastest racing driver of the day. The fastest
driver of the day will receive a prize.
Radio-controlled trucks
There are loads of radio-controlled truck
demonstrations on the indoor circuit plus
model truck displays. Outside you’ll find the
Convoy in the Park race series, where the
little trucks will go head to head, just like the
real ones on the truck!
Kids’ entertainers
The Blue Anchor Superstars, with their
winning smiles and shining personalities,
become firm favourites with everyone they
encounter. The team revel in spending time
with people and introducing everyone to their
best friends, life-sized characters Goldie and
Flo. Everyone wants cuddles with the giant
squishy dogs and they are more than happy
to oblige!
Bushcraft skills (Sunday)
Throughout the day on Sunday 11 August,
kids will be able to hone their bushcrafting
skills. Children will set up camp, create bug
hotels, learn.
Big Top circus
There are four free 40-minute shows in the
600-seater Big Top tent on both Saturday and
Sunday. Happy’s Circus is a professional
all-human (no animals) performance
featuring amazing international artists
including acrobats, aerialists, speciality acts,
magic and the ever-popular Happy’s Circus
clowns and much, much more! The theme
for the circus this year is in the style of the
movie The Greatest Showman.
