ridems were viewed with
some suspicion when
they first arrived on the
scene a few years back.
Which is understandable,
as here in the UK we just love
our traditional eight-wheelers.
Two steers at the front, two
drives at the back – and it’s been
that way since the invention of
the diesel engine. Full air
suspension? Steering rear
axles? New-fangled technology,
that is. Not sure about that.
A revelation
But when operators took on
these new trucks to try them out,
they were a revelation. The
turning circle and manoeuvrability
of a six-wheeler with the payload
of a 32-tonner? Almost too good
to be true. The set-up is of
particular benefit to operations
running on rural roads into farms,
or within urban environments. Driver Graham has been hugely impressed with the G500 so far
