have great fun doing it.”

Meet and greet
His reputation is growing too. At
the recent Truckfest Peterborough
show, Lewis was one of five
vloggers to be invited to do a
‘meet and greet’. “We had fans
queuing up to meet us! All we do
is drive lorries,” he laughs. “I’m
not bored of the vlogging yet, so

I will keep on going with it.”
Being a tramper has helped
with Lewis’s video work too. “In
the past I would film in the week,
get home on Friday and spend
Friday evening and Saturday
doing it and then chill out for the
rest of the weekend. But since
I’ve been tramping, it’s got easier
as I can do it on the road, which
means more free time at home.”
But his reputation extends
further than his vlogging skills.

Last year Lewis was Daf
Transport Efficiency Driver
Champion, the Dutch marque’s
biennial challenge to find the
best driver in the country. Twenty
drivers competed at the finals at
Millbrook Proving Ground on
May 19-20, taking part in a range
of challenges testing driving ability
and road and vehicle knowledge.
“Applicants were advertised
for online and at first I thought,
‘nah, that’s never going to be me’.

Eventually I applied, got through
to the second round and next
thing I know I’m a finalist. I just
happened to be very lucky on the
day,” he says modestly.
“Nobody was too competitive,
it was very friendly. We all do the
same job, more or less, and
there were no hard feelings at
the end of the day.”
