THRILL OF THE HUNT
AMY HUNT made a sensational breakthrough
in Mannheim.
She started the 200m ranked the
ninth-fastest British junior ever and the
overall equal 43rd-fastest Briton.
She finished the race as the fastest UK
junior ever and went third on the all-time
British lists behind only Dina Asher-Smith
and Kathy Cook as she improved her PB
from 23.17 to 22.42.
That time meant she broke Candace Hill’s
world under-18 record of 22.43, as well as
breaking Asher-Smith’s British under-20
record of 22.61. She will still be a junior in
both 2020 and 2021. (See Digest, p6).

TALKING POINTS

OF THE WEEK

MANNHEIM UP

AS has happened in

many recent years, British

athletes showed their

current good form with

lots of good performances

in the junior event

and there were some

sensational times.

LA CHAUX de FONDS

THIS event also attracted a

good quality GB presence

However, the necessity

to compete here looks

less obvious than the

juniors in Mannheim when

performances here are not

considered for qualifying

marks.

DNA in Minsk

THIS event attracted good

crowds and it is easy to

see the merits of a short,

sharp meeting with an

obvious conclusion in a

relay with first over the line

winning the match and

the starting time

dependent on other

events.

However, purists

bemoan how few events

are included.
