Peter Giles from the host club set new figures
for a UK Vet 75 of 12:01.82, eclipsing the
12:28.07 set by Victor Shirley in taking the
M75 silver medal in the World Masters Indoor
Championships in Torun, Poland, in March.
Giles had to run all seven and a half laps
on his own well behind the rest of he field but
pacd it perfectly.
Clare Elms set a new mark for a W55
woman, with 10:11.24. improving on the 10:13.8
posted by Scot Sandra Branney in Edinburgh
at the end of May 2009. Behind her, Clare
Grima went top of the outdoor W40 rankings.
Fastest time of the night was set by Owen
Hinds of Kent AC with 8:21.00.

LONDON FINSBURY PARK OPEN
5000m, Finsbury Park
THE second running of London Heathside’s
Finsbury Park 5000s took place under the
setting sun of a Friday evening, with over
160 athletes lining up on the track.
In front of a raucous crowd, the 5000m
festival saw well over a 100 PBs, and the
overall winner on the night was East
London’s Euan Brown in 14:55.17 ahead of
London Heathside U20 Seyfu Jamaal and
Will Brewin from Southampton. Victoria
Park and Tower Hamlet’s Rachel Thomas
posted the fastest women’s time of the
evening with a PB of 17:47.42, with London
Heathside’s Celine Bradley and Julia Bijl
not too far behind and also running PBs..
