theLeakSeries’(2010).Laingis a Sydney-based
photo-mediaartist.Laing’sphotographsaretheatrical,
performativeandconceptual.Eachseriesof work
hasestablisheditsownsetof visuallanguageand
references,underpinnedbythephysicalintervention
undertakenin situratherthandigitalmanipulation.
‘InBuddens’(2017),hundredsof unwantedclothes
wereplacedona dryriverbedthatleadsto WreckBay
in NewSouthWales,thesiteof asmanyshipwrecks
occurredin thepast.Herphotographicprojectsare
createdin relationto thepoliticsandthehistoriesof a
placeor situation,imagesof thelandscapeareoften
interruptedwithdeliberatelybuiltstructureto explore
theboundarybetweenbuiltandnaturalenvironment
andourrelationshipto theland.Theexhibition
featuresworksfrom‘Onedozenunnaturaldisasters
in theAustralianlandscape’(2003),‘Leak’(2010),
‘ThePaper’(2013)and‘Buddens’(2017).Rosemary
