gown was the fi rst of Carmen’s many
outfi ts for the evening, and the
nine-course dinner was a modern
interpretation of the traditional
Chinese banquet that included suckling
pig and black truffl e dumplings. As
well as the sumptuous menu, diners
were entertained by a series of
performances. In one, Filipina actress-
singer Crisel Consunji serenaded guests
with a heartfelt ballad accompanied
by a troupe of ballerinas in illuminated
LED tutus.
The bride and groom’s friends were
left in hysterics by tongue-in-cheek
speeches from the maid of honour,
Janice Man, and the best man, Jonathan
Kim, who delighted in shedding light on
the newlyweds’ characters. As the bride
and groom kissed on stage after the
cake-cutting ceremony, which featured
a towering custom-made creation, the
ballroom erupted with applause and
pyrotechnics burst behind the couple
like a scene from a Disney fairy tale.
After dinner, a dessert station in the
foyer served guests sweets favoured
by the bride and groom, including
cupcakes, cookies and pastries, before
the hard-core partygoers retreated
to the Presidential Suite, where the
newlyweds had a DJ blasting tunes well
into the early hours.
