The Hong Kong-based
photographer shot Ronna Chao for
this month’s cover story, Closing the
Loop (p.88)

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE IN THE
PAST YEAR TO BE MORE ECO-
FRIENDLY?
I’ve started carrying my own water
bottle and containers to avoid using
plastic. I’ve also set up a recycle
station to recycle paper, aluminium
cans and plastic at the studio.

WHAT STEPS ARE YOU TAKING TO
BE MORE SUSTAINABLE AT WORK?
We’ve started sourcing furniture and
props from Tree, which makes high-
quality products from recycled wood.

WHAT IS ONE GREEN DISCOVERY
YOU LOVE AND WHY?
Ecosia.org. It’s a search engine that
uses 80 per cent of its advertising
revenue to plant trees.

WHAT IS ONE THING EVERYONE
SHOULD DO TO COMBAT CLIMATE
CHANGE?
Choose quality products that last.

Nic and Bex Gaunt
The creative duo and real-life couple
photographed five of the city’s eco
heroes (p.108)

WHAT’S YOUR MOST ECO-
FRIENDLY GADGET?
Our mobile phones, as we put our
boarding passes on them and rarely
have to print anything now. We have
tried to go paperless.

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE IN THE
PAST YEAR TO BE MORE ECO-
FRIENDLY?
We don’t used plastic bottled water,
but boil tap water and put it in a glass
jug. We no longer use plastic shopping
bags, but reusable cotton ones. We
use bars of soap rather than shower
gels and hand soap that come in
plastic bottles.

WHAT CAN EVERYONE DO NOW
TO HELP THE PLANET?
Stop forcing everone to continually
have to upgrade computers and
phones. Consumerism must be
reduced. Let’s encourage people to
recycle and donate old clothes, books
and furniture instead of binning them.

captured looks that will stand the

test of time for our fashion shoot,

The Keepers (p.52)

WHAT STEPS ARE YOU TAKING
TO BE MORE ENVIRONMENTALLY
CONSCIOUS AT WORK?

In our industry, we waste many props
and backdrops from photo shoots.
What I try to do is donate them or sell
them on to others.

WHAT’S YOUR TOP GREEN TIP?

Cook more; don’t order takeaway.

WHAT IS ONE THING EVERYONE
SHOULD DO TO COMBAT CLIMATE
CHANGE?

Buy what you need, not what
you want.
