FEMALE CAR & GADGET AWARDS 2019

BEST 7-SEATER SMALL SUV

HONDA BR-V
“Think of the body of an SUV and the space of an
MPV – this 7-seater crossover certainly exceeded
my expectations as an easy-to-drive family car. The
BRV is powered by a 1.5 L i-VTEC engine coupled
with Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) for
better driving performance and improved fuel
efficiency, making driving on various road conditions
a brisk. As a family car, it copes pretty well with the
weight of five adults on a hilly road without feeling
under-powered. Best of all, it has an enhanced
Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) improvement
including Bulkhead (BHD) to provide great noise-
cancellation for a quiet and comfortable ride.” – Elaine

BEST BUDGET MPV

PERODUA ALZA
“Priced at RM62,690 (OTR only) for the Advance
AT model, it’s no wonder why the Alza is voted
as the best budget MPV. The extra-wide, sofa-like
front seat offers a comfortable ride for the driver
on long journeys. My favourite feature has got to
be the front corner sensors which make it easy to
gauge distances during parking and manoeuvring
tight corners. In terms of seating arrangement, Alza
definitely lives up to its tagline ‘Versatile as You’
as the seats (for seven passengers) can be folded
down in various ways to accommodate cargos and
passengers. Plus, the back seats fold down nicely to
offer a flat and more stable surface to transport heavy
and bulky goods.” – Elaine

BEST HATCHBACK

HONDA JAZZ
“This hatchback seems to be popular among young adults and I have a
handful of friends who own it. Now I finally understand why it’s such a
hot pick after driving it for two days. As a new driver, I find the size of
the Jazz absolutely easy to manoeuvre and I’m pleasantly surprised by
the good turning radius and light steering wheel that made tight turns
easy. While driving on a highway with a rougher surface, I’m amazed
by how well the car’s suspension is, coupled with the fact that the
cabin is pretty quiet inside with ample legroom. It was an enjoyable
experience not just for me but my passengers too!” – Elaine

BEST PICK-UP TRUCK

TOYOTA HILUX
When we think of Hilux, words like toughness,
durability and reliability come to mind – it’s the king
of every terrain after all! While Toyota introduced
the facelifted Hilux in March 2018 with new looks
and two L-Edition models (‘L’ for luxury), it wasn’t
until September that the brand announced the
new Phantom Brown colour option for the vehicle.
However, in terms of specs and features, nothing else
was added but it’s worth highlighting that the L-Edition
models (2.4L and 2.8L) are vehicles to watch out for.
