FEMALE CAR & GADGET AWARDS 2019

BEST PREMIUM MID-SIZE SUV

BMW X3 xDRIVE30i
“This locally-assembled third-gen SUV was incredibly fun
to drive since it produces loads of power – 0-100km in 6.3
seconds at a top speed of 240km/h! A few things I enjoyed:
how ‘torquey’ and responsive the eight-speed Steptronic
Sport transmission gearbox was, its good suspension set-
up that contributed to fantastic handling where it drives
like a sedan and lastly, the fuel efficiency considering its
size. On the inside, the X3 comes with a nice metre cluster
animation that fits each of the different driving modes
(comfort, eco pro and sport) and gorgeous ambient lighting
that’s customisable to match your moods!” – Tammy

BEST B-SEGMENT SEDAN

HONDA CITY
Fans of this sedan would be happy to know that this locally-
assembled (CKD) model now comes in the Passion Red Pearl
shade – a vibrant new colour that serves as a replacement for
the Dark Ruby Red the car first came in when it was launched
in 2017. While the model is already approaching the end of its
lifecycle (especially with competitor models stiffening up), it’s
still a popular car among Malaysians thanks to its practicality,
performance and affordability. We, for one, love how the LED
lights give it a modern edge while being practical.

MOST AFFORDABLE MID-SIZE SUV

MAZDA CX-5
“It’s been a year since I last test-drove the CX-5 and I was
informed that nothing major has changed since then except
for the addition of the powered tailgate that now comes as
a standard for all variants save for the 2.0G 2WD GL model.
In retrospect, it’s truly one of the nicest cars I’ve ever driven
and the one SUV that tops my bucket list to own. Why?
Because of safety features like the G-Vectoring Control
which allows for a smoother and less-tiring drive.” – Tammy

BEST C-SEGMENT SEDAN

HONDA CIVIC
Fun fact: The Honda Civic also won this
category in our Car & Gadget Awards in
2017! Looks like it’s still a crowd favourite
in its segment despite being an ageing
model. Exterior wise, it’s a stunner, but
we still can’t get over the fact that the
car is packed with features like remote
start and walk-away auto lock – two of
which are not found in the competitors
of this price range. Besides, who knows,
a facelift might be in the horizon?
