FEMALE: Congratulations on being named
Colour Technician of the Year and Grand
Champion of SABC! Tell us, what was the
inspiration behind your winning look?
Euniece: “When I first decided to take
part in the contest, I tried sourcing for
different themes. I didn’t manage to look
for the right one until I saw a video clip
about the galaxy. I was attracted to it
because the colours and changes of the
galaxy are incredibly beautiful. I was
inspired to create a hair shade similar
to the Schwarzkopf Professional hair
colours. I named my creation the Light
of Galaxy, which is how I interpret
vibrant tones and when light shines
through the dark sky. The way I see it is
when we face obstacles in our lives, we
will eventually shine bright and succeed
if we hold on to our beliefs without fear.”

F: What went through your mind when
your name was announced for both
categories?
E: “It was a real surprise to me! This
was really a proud moment for me to
be showcasing that Malaysia has talent.
It didn’t even cross my mind that I
could beat the other talented and strong
contestants who presented so much
creativity and effort in their designs.”

HER BIG WIN.

F: Having won these titles, are there
more goals that you've set for yourself?
E: “After winning the SABC champion-
ship, I will focus on working closely with
Schwarzkopf Professional to further
strengthen my skills to the next level.
By having a strong partnership with
the brand, it will ensure my personal
growth and development in the future.”

F: What are some of the new hair-
colouring trends in Asia?
E: “The colour trends in Asia are rapidly
changing as it’s a way for people to
express their individuality. I think colour
clashing is a trend right now – think bold
colours such as powdery blue and pink
to express personal style. Colours such
as warm matte and cool browns will
still be in for the less daring.”

F: What’s your hairstyling philosophy?
E: “My philosophy is that my work must
be linked to fashion. In short, I associate
hair colouring as a part of makeup
where it represents total beauty from
top to toe. My styling is bold and thus,
I will always make bold improvements
in simple hairstyles.”

F: What’s the most challenging part
about your job?
E: “The biggest challenge is to continue
to innovate, be creative and apply new
ideas in my work while accepting high
degrees of changes.”

F: What are you looking forward to
at the next SABC event in Tokyo, Japan?
E: “I look forward to seeing more
creativity and ideation of trends in my
own work. Not only that, I’m excited to
see more inspiring works from upcoming
hairdressers showcasing their talent.”
