The Dance of the Deaf and Dumb Eye, by
Nikoline Liv Andersen. Photographs by
Nicky de Silva.

There is a dark and sinister un-
dertone to your work. What does
this symbolise?
I like working with contrasts.
Contrasts make things interesting. It
can be contrasts in materials or am-
biguities in the meaning of the story
I’m telling. I am really inspired by
the darkness of our existence. The
major theme of my work is my own
incomprehensibility of the meaning
of life when death is irreversible.
That is something I will keep on
questioning in my work.
