Womankind – August 2019

My hometown is Copenhagen,
where I live in an apartment in the
area of Nørrebro, which is filled with
little shops, green start-ups, and
cafés. It gives me lots of daily inspi-
ration. I live with my 20-year-old son
who is studying music, who will be
moving out soon to live with a cou-
ple of his friends. I also have a daugh-
ter, who is 24. She lives in Berlin and
is a contemporary dancer.
I work as an interior stylist and
photographer for magazines and
brands. My heart beats for slow liv-
ing in a sustainable way, so I try to
influence my work in that direction
whenever possible. I have a great
love for botanical diversity.

I have an office space close to
my home, where I stock my props,
and make presentations and mood
boards for job assignments. Other
days I am in photo studios, or out
on photoshoots.
I studied fashion design at the
Royal Danish Academy of Fine
Arts, and I worked in fashion for
more than 15 years. I needed a
change and wanted to start my own
business, so I made a career shift sev-
en years ago. And I’ve worked with
interiors ever since, always with a
focus on sustainable living - making
mood boards, spotting trends, and
doing concepts for brands. A lot of
it is the same work as when I was do-

ing fashion design so I’m using the
same skills. It’s all about spotting
trends, combining materials, and
colour tones.
Wherever I travel, I always find
Danish interior and furniture brands.
I think it’s the timeless feel that ap-
peals to people all over the world.
Scandinavian simplicity, light co-
lours, and natural materials such as
wood, cottons, and wool. A lot is
happening in the world right now,
uncertainty about climate change,
particularly. Maybe it feels safer to
have simple and light interiors?
The essential features of Dan-
ish design include lots of wooden
furniture, and designs from the 50s
