This semicircular shawl features
a deeply curving picot edge,
a moss stitch top edge, and
a lacy pattern of barley ears.
There are two lengths, giving
either a shoulder covering or
a deeper shawl. Both lengths
have four pattern segments,
which are separated from
themselves and each other by
a spine stitch. Note that the
edging and spine sts are not
shown in the charts; follow the
instructions to set these up
during the cast-on.
This shawl is worked from the
lower edge upwards; you will
be casting on a large number
of sts and decreasing on every
fourth row.

Row 1 (RS): Ssk, k12, [k3tog,
k3, yo, k1 tbl, yo, k13] twice,
k3tog, k3, yo, k1 tbl, yo, k5,
k2tog. 2 sts dec’d per section
Row 2 & all WS rows: Purl,
working twisted sts as p1 tbl.

All WS rows should be worked
in purl ‘as they present’ –
which means if a st was k1
tbl on the RS, it should be
worked as p1 tbl on the WS.
For example, Row 2 would be
worked as: P7, p1 tbl, p5, [p14,
p1 tbl, p5] twice, p13

Row 3: K2, [yo, k1 tbl, yo, k7,
sssk, k3tog, k2, yo, k1 tbl, yo,
k3] 3 times, k4.
Row 5: Ssk, k1, [yo, k1 tbl, yo,
