Love Knitting for Babies - UK (2020-03)

(Antfer) #1

Checked blanket

W

orked on slightly larger 4 .5mm needles, this cosy
blanket will knit up quickly and provide hours of
snuggly fun for a crawling baby as they explore the
colours and patterns. Snuggly Bouclette is a natural wool blend
developed specially to combine a fun texture with a babysoft
touch. It really comes into its own with this simple pattern,
which is worked in horizontal stripes, and then embroidered with
vertical lines of chain stitch to create a splendid checked effect.

How to chain stitch

A series of loops, chain stitch is a
commonly used stitch when adding
detail. First secure your thread, then
bring your needle up through the fabric
where you want the chain stitch to
begin, at^1. Leaving a loop on the
surface, go back down again in the
same hole at^2. Bring the needle out
again at^3 , keeping the loop under the
needle. Repeat. Make a small stitch
over the last loop to secure it in place.
