Change to 3.5mm (UK 9/10, US 4)
needles and starting with a knit row,
cont in st-st for 10 (10: 14 : 14 : 14) rows,
then leave on a spare needle.

Border (make 2)
Using 3mm (UK 11, US 2/ 3 ) needles and
Yarn A, cast on 52 (60: 68 : 7 2: 76) sts.
Work in 2/2 rib for 8 rows, starting

Neckband
Using 3mm (UK 11, US 2/ 3 ) needles and
Yarn A, cast on 76 (80: 84 : 88 : 92) sts.
Work in 2/2 rib for 8 rows, starting and

Using a strand of Yarn B, Swiss-darn the
left front following the Chart for the size

Pockets

On each front, place a pocket 3cm

(1¼in) from the bottom (= red dots on

the diagram) and 6 (7: 6 : 7 : 8) sts from

the front centre edge.

Sew the base of each pocket in place

using backstitch.

Sew the side seams. Join the raglan

seams.

Using backstitch, graft a border along

each front (see previous page). Using

backstitch, graft the neckband around

neck edge from one border to the other.

Sew the sleeve and side seams.

Along the right front, 1 .5cm (½in) from

the front centre, make 5 buttonholes

without cutting thread as follows, the

1 st 2cm (¾in) from the bottom, the 2nd

1 .5cm (½in) from the top, the others at

regular spacings:

Using a sewing needle, pick up the

horizontal strand of the stitch where

you want to place the buttonhole, pull

it up and attach it 2 rows higher with a

few little stitches on the wrong side of

Repeat with the horizontal strand below

same way 2 rows down.

Sew on buttons.

Secure and weave in all ends.
