The importance of Hybrid Theory as
the gateway album into the world
of rock for a generation of fans has
often been stated – and for very good
reason. But in putting together our
thoughts and plans for this week’s
celebration of Linkin Park, in the year
of their 20th anniversary, it soon became obvious
that the most unique thing about the band is that
perhaps every one of the their seven studio albums
has played such a pivotal role for fans of different
ages – that Living Things, say, or The Hunting Party
are to so many what Hybrid Theory was to others.
It’s for that reason that, in reliving the band’s full
story across the 30 pages at the heart of this special
edition of Kerrang!, we decided to approach the task
album by album, to allow us to give equal dues to
those records that are often overshadowed by their
more famous oldest brother. It certainly brought back
some memories and led me to dive back into the
band’s deeper cuts, and I’m sure it will for you, too.
Enjoy the issue, and I’ll see you next week!
