The School of Visual Arts at World
University of Design (WUD) organized
an intensive brainstorming seminar in
collaboration with a think-tank of emi-
nent artists, art educators, curators and
industry leaders recently. The focus of
the seminar was on rethinking the exist-
ing education framework and moving
towards a futuristic and contemporary
understanding of the art education.
“Even as contemporary art continues its
movement in the conceptual and experi-
ential direction, object-based archival art
continues to hold its ground. These are
crucial times for art education too,” said
Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Vice Chancellor of the
World University of Design, in his address
at the seminar.

campaigns against
tobacco addiction
The Department of Public Health Den-
tistry at Sharda University organized an
awareness campaign on the ill-effects of
tobacco addiction. The programmes were
conducted on the occasion of ‘World No
Tobacco Day’. The students and faculty
carried out a series of plays, stand-up
skits, dance shows and ƽash mobs at a
mall in Noida to raise awareness on the
issue. The programmes aimed at inform-
ing people about the adverse effects of
tobacco consumption on health. It also
disseminated information on a variety of
treatment modalities. “We have reached
out to 40,000 people across more than
12 cities in India,” said Dr. Swati Sharma,
Staff-in-Charge of the department.

alicut University situated in Malappuram, Kerala, is the most searched university
in 2019, according to a recent study conducted by SEMrush, an online visibility
management and content marketing platform. The second most searched university
in the list is Gujarat University followed by Kashmir University, reveals the study
conducted between January and April 2019. According to the same study, University
of Calicut was searched by 9,17,250 times, Gujarat University by 4,42, 688 times and
Kashmir University searched by 3,04,000 times. The study also states that the web-
site of the University of Delhi received a maximum number of searches in 2019 with
2,780,714 entries during January to April 2019. Anna University website received
1,759,392 visitors and the University of Calicut website got 1,252,064 visitors during
the same period.


The Union HRD Ministry has announced that the Association of Indian Universities
will issue equivalence certificates for Australian transcripts, including all units recog-
nised by the degree-issuing institution. Students from India completing their Diploma
in Engineering or Diploma in Science from the University of New South Wales
(UNSW) will have their qualifications officially recognized in India. Diploma students
in UNSW Sydney will be studying courses equivalent to first-year undergraduates
which are accredited by the institution and benefit from additional support during
their studies. On successful completion, a Diploma student will progress directly to
year 2 of the undergraduate (UG) degree. Students will receive two qualifications –
the diploma and a degree – in the same time-frame as for a standard UG degree.
