<QSPKFDUOFXT>Rotterdam-based architects Atelier Kempe Thill are set to design a new museum across the border in fellow Low Countries-nation Belgium. The
Maritime Museum Antwerp is to be located in the Flemish capital’s historical dry-docks district, as part of the area’s ongoing redevelopment. Antwerp
is Europe’s second largest port, after Rotterdam, and the museum will preserve the city’s maritime heritage. Also housed in the new building will be
offices of the local harbour authority, as well as several large workshops dedicated to the restoration of historical boats. The centrepiece of the new
museum will be the Doelse Kogge, a yet-to-be-reconstructed, 700-year-old cog that was discovered in 2000 during excavations at the Deurganck
dock. “[The venue] will also host the permanent and temporary collection of ships and is well equipped to accommodate a broad spectrum of public

American firm Studio Gang is on course for its first Canadian project.
Situated on the southwest corner of Yonge Street and Delisle Avenue in the
country’s most populous city, the volume, named One Delisle, will have 48
storeys, with shops on the lower levels and apartments above. The building
will also have a honeycomb-patterned skin, festooned with balconies and
terraces. “The geometry of the facade, and the self-shading it provides,
allows each living space to stay cool in summer, while also optimising
winter light,” says the firm’s eponymous boss Jeanne Gang. “This gentle
pitch frames indoor-outdoor connections on the balconies and terraces that
spiral up the building in an organisation inspired by organic growth and
form.” The client is developer Slate Asset Management; Canadian firms
WZMH (architects) and Janet Rosenberg & Studio (landscape architects)
