means not knowing where to gaze; it’s beautiful in every direction. One wall of smaller,
teak louvres that angle for shade is particularly eye-catching, making a filigreed pattern
that catches sun and then abstracts it into an artwork.


Overall, Jungle Frame House has a bit of the personality of an ad-hoc construction,
only bigger, better detailed, and more refined at every turn. This blend of ‘vernacular’
spirit and completely contemporary, efficient and relatively high-end parts and
assembly is invigorating; the house is never so modest as to ignore its own great looks,
yet not in any way flauntingly self-congratulatory. If surviving the jungle is what one
needs or wants to do, doing so in a ‘hut’ such as this would make it a whole lot better.
