also a small loft space
near the centre of the
plan, tucked into the high
area of the shed roof, like
a semi-secret lair. It is
reached by a steel-plated
staircase not far from
the fireplace.
This is not a small
building. It lies fairly
low to the land, despite
its dramatic roof. The
generous timber beams
and trusses seem
swarthy but somehow
humble. Its steroid-thick
walls feel connected to
ancient places, but allow
people and furniture to
lead the show. Almost
every surface gives
tonality and texture, but
nothing cries out for
attention. Casa Lasso will
look better and better as
it grows old with its own
history.
