Sixties supermodel Twiggy reveals why

she’s stopped caring about the ageing process

and started celebrating it instead...

‘I don’t think about

Of course some might
think that’s easy for her to
say, considering just how
fantastic she looks. So what
is her secret to looking
so youthful?
Unlike most models,
Twiggy ate
whatever
she wanted
during her
20s, but now
she’s a little
more careful.
‘I think you
are what you eat, so I try
to buy organic when I can,
especially meat, and I love
to cook,’ she explains. ‘Leigh
[Twiggy's actor/director
husband Leigh Lawson]
doesn’t have a
sweet tooth, so we
don’t eat lots of
puddings at home.’
But that doesn’t
mean she doesn’t
treat herself, and
she clearly believes
that life is about
balance. ‘I love my
bread and I’ll have
a glass of wine
most nights,’ Twiggy
admits. ‘If I feel like
something sweet, I’ll
have two little squares
of Green & Black’s
dark chocolate.’
Despite her slim
build, Twiggy has
never dieted. ‘I don’t

on the way she looks,
you could be forgiven for
thinking Twiggy might have
concerns about the ageing
process. But, even with the
big 7-0 looming, the model
has never cared less about
growing older. In fact, she’s
embracing it...
One thing 69-year-old
Twiggy, or Dame Lesley
Lawson as she is now
officially known, can’t lie
about is her age – seeing as
it’s been well documented
since she burst onto the
fashion scene at just 16.
But, the model, who is
mother to Carly, 41, reveals
she wouldn’t want to anyway.
‘I know people can get
depressed about being a
certain age, but I don’t see
the point of that – there’s
nothing you can do about it
and you can’t stop the time
passing, so you might as
well celebrate it,’ she says.
Despite gracing the
cover of every high-fashion
magazine under the sun as
the ‘Face of the 1960s,’ the
prospect of growing older
doesn’t phase Twiggy.
‘I don’t think about my
age or ageing,’ she explains.
‘I’m as happy now as I was
in my 20s.’

think diets work, personally.
Anyone I’ve ever known
who’s lost weight on a diet
puts it all back on again
afterwards eventually.’
Instead, Twiggy maintains
her slender shape with
Pilates sessions.
She says,
‘Pilates is
my indulgence.
I have one-to-
one sessions
because I have
a funny back.
It went into spasm once
and I had to lie flat for a
week, which scared me.’
