his generation, Australian

Marc Newson has created

everything from chairs,

watches, and a concept car

to restaurants and interiors

of private and commercial

jets. A close friend of

Apple design guru Jony Ive

and one of the designers

behind the Apple Watch,

Newson has collaborated

with companies such as

Ford, Montblanc, Louis

Vuitton, Nike, Hennessy,

and Jaeger-LeCoultre—

to name a few—crossing

boundaries and different

industries to make the

world more beautiful with

the touch of his hands.

In this issue, we take a

look at some of his

exceptional creations

from the past few years.

This sneaker from Nike and Marc

Newson marries Air VaporMax

technology, Nike’s Flyknit, and

a full-grain vegetable-tanned

leather construction. A velcro

strap covers a Nike Flyknit

sockliner that sits atop the

shoe’s icy bubble cushioned

midsole. The contrasting textiles

and colors, contrast crisscross

stitching, and embossed Swoosh

and MN branding on the heel

counter make for a bold

hi-top sneaker.
