Orange Is the New Black

JULY 26

All that waiting sure felt like

a prison sentence. Luckily, by

July 26, the motley crew of

lawbreakers in Orange Is the New

Black will return for its seventh

and final season.

The season will follow Piper

(Taylor Schilling), who had been

released in the previous season,

adjusting to life outside the

penitentiary. She will have to

grow accustomed to the distance

from her now-wife Alex (Laura

Prepon), who still has years left

to serve behind bars. Of course,

the show will continue to follow

the sordid journeys of remaining

inmates like Taystee, Nicky,

Suzanne, and Black Cindy.

Stranger Things

JULY 4

One of Netflix’s most acclaimed

original shows is back for a third

season. Stranger Things 3, which

is set in 1985, will continue to

track the otherworldly goings-on

in the fictional town of Hawkins,

Indiana. In a trailer released in

March, people spotted what

could be a new evil wreaking

havoc in town: demo-rats, or

demogorgons in rat form. The

season sees Eleven (Millie Bobby

Brown), the show’s beloved girl

wonder, and the rest of our pre-

adolescent core square off with

new nefarious forces. As it’s done

in past seasons, Stranger Things

3 promises to be saturated with

nostalgia and cultural nods to the

1980s.

Kengan Ashura

JULY 31

Martial arts anime Kengan

Ashura promises to be a

captivating addition to the

streaming platform. The anime

follows Tokita Ohma, a brawler

who enters an underground pit-

fighting league sponsored by

large corporations. The series is

based on the manga written by

Sandrovich Yabako and illustrated

by Daromeon.

Money Heist

JULY 19

The third season of Netflix’s

international hit, Money Heist, is

set to drop this month. Centered

on El Profesor, the series follows

an enigmatic criminal who is

hatching a scheme for a large-

scale heist. El Profesor (Alvaro

Morte) recruits eight thieves to

help him: Tokyo, Moscow,

Denver, Berlin, Nairobi, Rio,

Helsinki, and Oslo. The third

season will track the remaining

thieves as the Spanish

government ramps up their

effort to vanquish the group.

Saint Seiya: Knights of the

Zodiac

JULY 19

This highly anticipated anime

reboot is sure to draw the

attention of fans loyal to the Saint

Seiya franchise. The story follows

Seiya, an orphan, who must travel

to a sanctuary in Greece to take

the Bronze Cloth of the Pegasus

constellation. Said cloth serves

as a protective armor for Greek

goddess Athena and her 88

warriors. The series was revealed

to have been animated using

CGI, drawing split reaction from

fans. The die-hards will be paying

close attention, for sure.
