‘Buff Beauty’
Arching growth carries coral-tinted
apricot buds opening to 3½in (9cm), fully
double, very well-scented, rich apricot-
yellow flowers – mainly in midsummer;
less dramatically later. Good as a climber.
Type: Hybrid Musk. H: 6ft (1.8m).
‘Félicité Parmentier’
Compact, and strong-growing, with
slightly greyish leaves and elegant, pale
rose-pink, prettily quartered 2½in (6cm)
flowers. Opening from yellowish buds,
they fade to cream at the edges. Type:
Alba x Damask hybrid. H: 51in (1.3m).
‘Ferdinand Pichard’
Starts with a dramatic June burst of well-
scented clear pink flowers, their petals
splashed in crimson. The colour matures
to blush and purple as the display
continues into autumn. Compact; rather
upright. Type: Bourbon. H: 5ft (1.5m).
‘reine des Violettes’
An outstanding rose that develops into
a graceful plant; blooms open in a dusty
soft purple, maturing a little paler but
featuring a velvety upper surface to the
petals and a silky reverse. Beautifully
scented. Type: Bourbon. H: 6½ft (2m).
‘Charles de mills’
Upright, almost thornless stems carry pink
buds that open to sumptuous, quartered,
fully double, wonderfully scented 4in
(10cm) flowers. Blooms are packed with
petals in a range of crimson, purple and
wine tones. Type: Gallica. H: 4ft (1.2m).
