HAIR
USE: Oribe Supershine
Moisturizing Cream ($59)
BUT WHY? “If you have zero
products in your arsenal, this is the
one to start with,” says Toronto hair
guru Jason Lee. “Most people can
benefit from some moisture, and it’s a great way to create
a foundation for blow-drying hair straight or wearing it
curly, or it can act as a leave-in conditioner.”

MAKEUP
USE: L’Oréal Paris
Unlimited Mascara ($17)
BUT WHY? “Mascara is an
incredible way to give you an
instant lift and wide-eyed effect,
and it can also double as liner when
you take it right to the base of the lash,” says L’Oréal
Paris makeup pro Jodi Urichuk. “This is a lengthening
mascara, so the tapered brush makes it easy to get even
the hard-to-reach lashes at the inner and outer corners.”

SKIN
USE: Dermalogica Daily
Microfoliant ($82)
BUT WHY? A physical exfoliant will
make the biggest improvement in your
skin with a one-time use, says Dr. Lisa
Kellett, a dermatologist and owner
of DLK on Avenue in Toronto. “It will
immediately remove some of the dead layers of the skin,
called the stratum corneum.” Translation: less dullness and
dryness and way more glow. We love this Dermalogica
classic, which leans on rice-based powder and salicylic
acid to lend your complexion a freshly scrubbed radiance.

HOW CAN I ABRIDGE
MY EXHAUSTING
BEAUTY ROUTINE?
If you can’t stomach one that’s
longer than an episode of
Stranger Things, here are a few
wonders that may just be all you need.

In a world of shelfies (we, too, shudder at
this word) and multi-step regimens, it feels
rebellious to reach for the same few products
every day. We tapped our go-to pros for their
hero beauty scores.

Start with a drawer, say Clea
Shearer and Joanna Teplin, the
all-star duo behind the Home Edit,
who have somehow managed to trans-
form the minutiae of organizing into
a stylish must-watch event.
“Here’s the thing: Organizing prin-
ciples are really the same whether it’s
a tiny space or a gigantic space, but gi-
gantic spaces can feel paralyzing if you
don’t know what you’re doing or what
you’re getting into. But if you start
with a drawer, you can get through the
A to Z of the process: Take everything
out and clear away the things that
don’t belong or any junk or duplicates
that are left in there. Then use drawer
inserts to group like items together and
categorize it all. You should see organ-
ization as an extension of your interior
design. Use containers, like baskets and
bins, that meet your aesthetic; if you
have an industrial loft, for example,
use metal bins. Then it’s done, and it’s
beautiful! If you can make it through
that process, you can extrapolate it out
to larger projects and do anything!”
