Injury Update

By STAFF REPORTER

HIBERNIAN FC confirmed that Rocky
Bushiri will be out for a significant
period of time.
The defender was stretchered off
during the Easter Road side’s defeat to
Hearts in the Scottish Cup after a
collision with an opponent. Scans have
revealed that Rocky has picked up an
ankle injury.
The 23-year-old will be reviewed by
an ankle specialist but is likely to be
unavailable for at least three months.
Hibernian FC Manager Lee Johnson
said: “Firstly we’re all gutted for Rocky
and wish him a speedy recovery.
“Rocky was an important player for us,
and we felt like he was getting better
week on week.
“We will provide him with all the
support he needs, rally round him,
and help him return fitter and stronger
than before.”
Rocky Bushiri added: “This injury has
been difficult for me to get my head
around, but I have to stay positive and
focus on returning stronger.
“I felt like Hibs fans were starting to
see the best of me, so I’m determined to
come back an even better player and
hope to see all the fans soon.”

THREE WEEKS into the January transfer
window Hibs announced James Jeggo on an
18-month deal from Belgian side K.A.S Eupen.
And the midfielder was thrown straight into
the white hot atmosphere of an Edinburgh
derby at Easter Road and became the first player
to be booked after a challenge on Barrie McKay.
Jeggo has nearly 300 club appearances to his
name and 15 international caps for Australia.
Born in Vienna, Austria, the player relocated
to Australia in his early years and played his
youth football with Green Gully and the
Victorian Institute of Sport.
He recovered from leukemia in his teenage
years battling back to live his dream of playing
professional football.
He signed his first professional contract with
Melbourne Victory in 2011, and went on to
make 34 appearances for the Club before joining
fellow A-League side Adelaide United in 2014.
It was at Adelaide where Jeggo got his first
taste of silverware. He was named the A-League
Young Footballer of the Year for the 2014/15
season, before playing his part in Adelaide’s
title-winning campaign the following year.
At the age of 23, he swapped Australia for
Austria, joining Austrian side Sturm Graz where
he played 73 times and added the Austrian Cup
to his trophy cabinet in 2018.
He then made the switch to Austria Vienna in
the summer of 2018, where he spent two
seasons with the Austrian Bundesliga side –

adding another 55 appearances to his name and
featuring in both the Europa League and UEFA
Conference League Qualifiers.
More recently, the player spent time in the
Greek top-flight joining Aris Thessaloniki and
featured 55 times for the Greek outfit in two
seasons. In January last year, Jeggo joined
Belgian side KAS Eupen on Deadline Day and
went on to make 23 appearances in the Jupiler
Pro League.
Jeggo was a member of the squad that
qualified for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar,
featuring 10 times in the World Cup

Qualification Group Stages, where he played
alongside current Hibee – Martin Boyle –
several times.
Hibernian FC Manager Lee Johnson
commented: “Jimmy is a very good
communicator, will help our organisation both
with and without the ball, and will aid the
solidarity of the team.
“He’s mobile, a good athlete, and is technically
good. You need players like him in a successful
team.
“He will bring extra experience to the squad,
and we look forward to working with him.”

THE FISHING season opens at
Harlaw Reservoir above Balerno on 1
April and the executive managers of
Malleny Angling, who administer the
water, are keen to encourage more
young people into the sport.
Under a new rule, keen anglers
under the age of 18 will be permitted
to fish free at Harlaw and Threipmuir
Reservoirs when accompanied by an
adult with a valid permit.
Robert Ross of Malleny Angling,
who administer Harlaw and also
bank fishing on Threipmuir Reservoir

between Black Springs and The
Boathouse, explained the new
system: "We noted a surge of interest
in angling during the aftermath of
lockdown caused by the world-wide
Covid-19 outbreak. Thereafter, we
saw that more young people were
interested in taking up the sport and
we are all for that.
"The executive managers feel we
have to do more to encourage
young people into the sport we love
and therefore we have agreed that
all young people under the age of 18
fishing will be allowed to fish free
when accompanied by a parent or

adult over 18 years of age who has
a valid permit.
"The rule states that the adult
permit holder may only have one
under 18 year old fishing with him.

The catch and release permit is not
transferrable and the adult permit
holder must sign a disclaimer before
commencing fishing. The safety of all
anglers is of paramount importance

and the young angler must be
supervised at all times.
"The young angler will be subject
to a strict catch and return rule and
must fish with barbless hooks."
Fishing at Harlaw is fly only,
centrepin reel, line and hand-tied
artificial flies or lures. No spinning is
allowed and no float tube or boat
fishing is permitted at and you must
be a member or season ticket holder
or a buy a day ticket to fish. Day
permits are only available online at
Malleny Angling and all fish taken
are only for personal use and are not
to be sold or exchanged for profit.
