Y

ou don’t have to travel to
Balinese resorts to recharge
your batteries; we’ve found
a wellness weekend that will
have you feeling cleansed and refreshed
without even leaving the Emirate.
Rixos Premium Dubai’s Wellness
Staycation package includes a two-night
stay, luxurious spa treatment for
two, personal training session
and extravagant healthy
breakfast from Dhs900
per night. We tested out
the staycation to see if it
really does rejuvenate the
soul as promised.
Having been to the
hotel’s dining outlets
and beach club, Azure,
on multiple occasions it was
refreshing to see a more tranquil
side to the five-star resort. The main pool
was, as usual, packed with families and
couples visiting from around the world.
We book the spa treatment on our first day
at Rixos and opt for the 60-minute Royal
Ottoman Hammam. The Natureland Spa
is a welcome sight of pure serenity, with

male and female treatment areas, sauna
and steam room, Jacuzzi, showers and the
traditional hammam room.
For anyone unfamiliar with hammam
it originates from Rixos’ native Turkey,
and begins with a 10-minute steam to
open the pores ready for cleansing. Once
transferred to the hammam bath room,
we lay on a heated marble podium as
our technician began to scrub
away all dead skin with a
traditional Kese mitt.
This was followed by an
unusual sensation of
bubbles being poured all
over the body, a far better
experience than any foam
party we’ve been to. The
foam is infused with olive
soap which is then massaged
into the skin with expert regard.
They also wash your hair so not a
single body part is left uncleansed. The
final step is a smothering of seaweed
clay mask, the last stage in achieving the
softest skin of your life. The rest of the
afternoon is then yours to enjoy in the
spa relaxation area, with a range

of herbal teas and reading material on
hand, plus an unbeatable view of the
Arabian Gulf from the comfort of your
chaise lounge.
Wake up in the comfort of your bed in
the knowledge that a healthy breakfast
is on its way to your room. Avoid the
temptations of the pastries at the buffet
and instead fuel up on a selection of
eggwhite veggie omelette, granola with
yoghurt and fresh berries, toast, cottage
cheese, crackers with low-fat feta, cereals,
tea, coffee and juices. We’ll be seriously
impressed if you can finish the full array,
but perfect for those who like a little of
everything to start their day.
If you’re not in full-relaxation mode by
then, make use of the RixGym and book
in a complimentary session with an expert
personal trainer. The fitness centre is well-
equipped with state-of-the-art machinery,
weights, equipment and those addictive
sea views Rixos Premium displays so well.
Until December 31
a Rixos Premium Dubai, JBR, Dubai
Marina, Dhs895++ per night, minimum
two-night stay. Tel: (04) 520000.
